Several martial arts films did, however, help inspire the creation of Kung Fu Panda, which was released in 2008. They included Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Hero (2002), House of Flyer Daggers (2004), and especially the action comedy Kung Fu Hustle (2004). Here's a bit more trivia: The name of "Po" was chosen for the panda character as an homage to the television series Kung Fu (1972) and its blind Master Po.
